  • -

The University of Arizona Symphonic Choir, under the direction of Elizabeth Schauer, presents "The Rising," a dynamic and eclectic program representing a range of compositional voices and musical traditions. Works of popular musicians Thomas A. Dorsey, Hozier and Enya are featured alongside the music of lesser known historical composers, including Undine Smith Moore, Salamone Rossi, Margarita Cozzolani and Francisco Feliciano.

Symphonic Choir is one of only two Arizona choirs selected by audition to perform on the 2023 Western Region Conference of the American Choral Directors Association that will take place March 5-9 in Pasadena, California, and this concert is a preview of that performance. The Walden Grove High School Choir, under the direction of Luke Diamond, also will perform on the concert, singing works include Dodie Clark's "Secret for the Mad." This popular concert, hosted each year at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, is often packed. Early arrival is recommended for parking and to get a good seat. Doors will open at 2:15 p.m.
