Come celebrate Black History Month at an event initiated and organized by the Department of History's Public History Collaborative.

"Sounds of History: An Evening of Jazz" brings together the University and Tucson at the Hotel Congress Plaza on Saturday, February 10, for a free event to explore community and culture through history and music. University of Arizona faculty members Tyina Steptoe and Derrais Carter along with Neto Portillo will speak about the cultural and historical importance of jazz over time both locally and nationally. Tucson-area jazz musicians, including local high school jazz bands, will delight the audience with performances. An afterparty in The Century Room runs 6-9 p.m. for those 21 and over.

The Department of History's Public History Collaborative seeks to advance the visibility of history and inspire communities to engage with the past in new ways. Learn more at the link below.
