Pablo Piña, senior inspector for University Facility Services, was recognized as Inspector of the Year by Arizona Building Officials during its annual banquet on June 24 in Prescott.
The award honors an inspector for their contributions and participation in AZBO, outstanding achievement in the building inspection field, helpfulness to fellow inspectors and professional development.
Piña has been an AZBO member since 2005 and has worked for the U of A for four years, bringing 15 years of prior experience. His work ensures construction projects comply with federal, state, local and university construction codes and design standards.
AZBO provides building code education, training, and resources for construction professionals.

The Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine building complex received a 2026 IDEAS Award from the American Institute of Steel Construction.
The Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine building complex received a 2026 IDEAS Award from the American Institute of Steel Construction during this year's North American Steel Construction Conference in Atlanta.
The awards recognize building projects for the innovative use of steel, including adaptive reuse, architecture, constructability, engineering, and sustainable design and construction. AWCIM's three-building project was cited for its low-maintenance exposed steel, masonry and glass exterior, extensive shade, interior spaces and connection with the natural desert landscape.
