Community Relations and UA Cares recognized by United Way of Tucson
The Office of Government and Community Relations received a Bronze Award from the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona. The honor recognizes commitment to community well-being through partnerships with the United Way and leadership in giving, volunteerism and year-round support.
The office was honored for its UA Cares initiatives, including the annual workplace giving campaign in the fall, the UA 4 Food drive each spring, and blood drives each semester.
The office was honored May 15 at the 21st Anniversary Circle of Excellence Awards Luncheon, which celebrates community leaders who give their time, talent and resources to improve the lives of others in Southern Arizona.

Christy Ball named Mentor of the Year

Christy Ball, associate professor of practice in the Department of Psychology
Christy Ball, associate professor of practice in the Department of Psychology, has been named the 2025 Mentor of the Year by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. The national award recognizes individuals who demonstrate leadership and provide exceptional support for the professional growth and advancement of others.
Ball is the director of undergraduate career development and faculty advisor for Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. She is also co-director of the Undergraduate Psychology Exploration Program, which supports more than 300 first-year students each year through peer mentoring.
The National Association of Colleges and Employers connects more than 17,000 college career professionals, early talent recruiting and university relations professionals through research, professional development and networking opportunities.
Angela Murrell receives health sciences librarian award
Angela Murrell, associate librarian with University Libraries and liaison to the College of Medicine – Tucson, received the 2025 Louise Darling Achievement Award from the Medical Library Group of Southern California & Arizona. The award honors significant contributions to health sciences librarianship.

Murrell joined the university in 2022. In her work with the Health Sciences Library and College of Medicine – Tucson, she provides course-integrated instruction and reviews and supports research projects within the college.
The Medical Library Group of Southern California & Arizona is a chapter of the Medical Library Association and promotes and supports the work of health sciences librarians and information professionals.
