Washington, D.C. Center Opening – Partnerships for Resilience: Reframing Solutions

Please join Robert C. Robbins, President of the University of Arizona, and Elizabeth "Betsy" Cantwell, SVP for Research Innovation and Impact, for an afternoon workshop and reception to create innovative research partnerships focused on solutions to environmental and societal problems.

Invitees include program managers from an array of federal agencies; Biden administration officials; staff from Arizona Congressional offices and key congressional committees; private sector interests; NGO’s; regulatory agencies; and selected UA Alumni.

This event will be conducted in hybrid mode, please choose in-person or virtual option in the registration form.

 Partnerships for Resilience Panel (1:30-2:20 p.m.)

  • Kathy Jacobs, Director of the UA Center for Climate Adaptation Science and Solutions, will moderate a panel discussion with high-profile private sector interests and a representative from the White House Council on Environmental Quality. The comments will set the stage for real-time brainstorming in breakout groups, building ideas for research partnerships that support resilience and environmental justice, assess climate risks to business functions, and consider ways to mainstream resilience into planning and operations.

  • Jim BuizerFounding Director of the Arizona Institutes for Resilience, will moderate a conversation to explore the successful partnership between the University of Arizona and Tucson Electric Power, demonstrating how public-private partnerships can advance climate actions.
