UA Libraries and the Office of Summer Session is hosting "Memories of the Southwest" by Fritz Scholder on Thursday, Aug. 10. The presentation begins at 11 a.m. and a reception will follow at noon.

Scholder, a native of Breckenrdige, Minnesota received his masters in fine arts from the University of Arizona in 1964. He taught advanced painting and art history at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Scholder quit teaching in 1969 and devoted his life to art and travel. He is internationally known and his works are included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York; La Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He has been the subject of three films and more than 20 books.
