The UA's Office of Early Academic Outreach recently held its College Knowledge for Parents program, which provides families with the information necessary to ensure that their children are college-ready. Hundreds of people participated in the event and some of the families shared their thoughts and experiences around how challenging it is to prepare to college and ways the UA is working to help.
In honor of Black History Month, UA students, faculty and staff shared which people, organizations and events have greatly impacted their lives and work. The Harlem Renaissance, Black feminist thought and people such as actor Sidney Poitier and activist Marian Wright Edelman were among those mentioned.
UA student Wendy Wong and faculty member Jeannie Lee share a common past and professional interests. The two were connected through the Arizona Assurance program and have since developed a mutually beneficial bond. Arizona Assurance provides academic, financial and social support for low-income Arizona residents as a way to ensure success, retention and graduation.
Coinciding with more visible nationwide concerns about school safety and security, U.S. News & World Report ranks school psychology as one of the best careers of the year. The UA's school psychology program, one of the longest-running accredited programs in the field, maintains a strong emphasis on crisis prevention and efforts toward making connections among homes, schools and communities.
When it comes to social media, the landscape is always changing. While these shifts often occur on a daily basis, it's important to look at the bigger picture of what's to come this year.
