PHOENIX, Ariz. – The University of Arizona and industry partners will host a topping out ceremony for the Medical Innovations Building located in downtown Phoenix on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The event commemorates a significant milestone in construction: placing the last structural beam at the top of the building.

The new seven-story, 200,000 square-foot facility is located within the Phoenix Bioscience Core and will support groundbreaking medical research.

The building is being developed in partnership with McCarthy Building Companies and SmithGroup architectural firm. The U of A and its partners broke ground on the facility in October 2024.

University of Arizona President Suresh Garimella, Arizona Board of Regents Chair Doug Goodyear, and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego will speak at the event alongside representatives from McCarthy Building Companies and SmithGroup.
