UA 'Superheroes' Raise Funds for Childhood Leukemia
Hundreds of "superheroes" — Wonder Woman and the Incredible Hulk among them — raised more than $2,000 for a family that is being supported by Helping Hands 4 Childhood Leukemia, a Tucson-based charity organization.
The Wildcats to the Rescue Fun 5K was held Saturday on the University of Arizona Mall to raise funds for Helping Hands 4 Childhood Leukemia. The goal of the organization is to help cover a year of rent or mortgage for a family whose child is going through cancer treatment. "Each faculty (member) has brought their expertise to the partnership with students to collaborate on this event, to create deliverables for the community and impactful change on a large scale," said Jessica Litvack, the UA Faculty Fellows program coordinator.
The themed run/walk was organized by about 20 Faculty Fellows and many more students campuswide. About 450 participated.
