Shelly Lowe Chris Richards/University of Arizona Shelly Lowe was nominated on Oct. 5 by President Joe Biden to serve as chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Lowe earned a bachelor's degree in sociology with a minor in American Indian studies at the UArizona in 1997, then went on to earn a master's degree in American Indian studies in 2005.
