Black History Month: 'Not a Beginning, Not an End'

On the eve of Black History Month, U.S. President Barack Obama proclaimed that the nation should honor the many ways African Americans have and continue to uphold the ideals of freedom, democracy and visionary work. Today, as the UA campus community gears up for a month of events, several UA students and staff speak about ways they honor Black history and heritage.

All in the Family

Thanks to the support of an anonymous donor, Carl Brunenkant's UA tuition was paid. It marked the start of Brunenkant's career as an educator and led him to meet his wife, Mary, and the eventual occurrence that several other members of the Brunenkant family would earn UA degrees.
