Recruitment for Grapefruit Study

When: December 13, 2010 (All day) to January 31, 2011 (All day)

The goal of the study is to determine if eating grapefruit daily can promote weight loss. You will be asked to consume the provided ruby red grapefruits or refrain from eating citrus for nine weeks and complete a satiety log book. You will also be asked to provide two fasting blood samples and several urine samples during the nine-week period.

Who is eligible?
Any overweight nonsmoking men or premenopausal women, over 18 years old, that are willing to eat grapefruits daily for six weeks. Also have to be willing to discontinue all other citrus fruits other than study-provided grapefruits for nine weeks. You also must be available for clinic visits and telephone contact and be willing to complete study questionnaires.

This study is being conducted by Cynthia Thomson in the University of Arizona's nutritional sciences department.
