Lecture: Overview of Fulbright-Hays GPA to Uzbekistan & Tajikistan

In this talk, Austin O'Malley and Julie Ellison-Speight will discuss their Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad trip that they led to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. They will be sharing photos and major takeaways from their time abroad.
Austin O'Malley, the Roshan Institute Assistant Professor of Persian and Iranian Studies, received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2017. His research centers on the rhetoric, didacticism, and reception of pre-modern Sufi literature, and he is currently pursuing a book project that examines the poetry of Farid al-Din ' Attar from an audience-centered, rhetorical perspective.
Julie Ellison-Speight is the University of Arizona Associate Director of the Title VI Center for Middle Eastern Studies. Julie received her doctorate in near eastern studies with a focus on the Iranian women's movement. Julie managed the Afghan Cultural Heritage Program, which was a distance-learning project that was jointly funded by the US Department of State and the National Park Service.
