Networking for PhD First Generation/Graduate Students of Color in the Humanities and Social Sciences

This networking group specifically addresses the experiences of first generation/graduate students of color as they explore diverse careers, but all groups are open to everyone. Ph.D. students should be at least in their second or third year. Graduate networking groups are month-long groups in which students learn about diverse careers and develop professional networks and connections. Participants will commit to the following:

  • Attend a two-hour planning session to review networking goals and learn about resources.
  • Develop a networking plan and conduct at least one informational interview.
  • Attend weekly one-hour group meetings to discuss networking progress, identify new connections, and plan new networking goals. 

Planning Session: Sept. 7, 3-5 p.m.
Weekly Meetings: Sept. 14, 21 and 28, 3-4:30 p.m.
