'Spring Sing': University of Arizona Treble Glee, Arizona Women's Chorus, Tucson Women's Chorus
The spring concert of the University of Arizona Treble Glee brings together three Tucson-area ensembles, all led by University of Arizona students and alumnae. Treble Glee is one of eight University choirs and features soprano and alto singers from a variety of majors across campus.
Arizona Women's Chorus, founded in 1985, is an advanced community women’s chorus that sings a wide range of repertoire from jazz to classical, Broadway to international. Tucson Women's Chorus carries on a 20-year tradition in Southern Arizona and is open to singers whether they read music or not. They focus on music that represents a wide range of human experiences and communities.
The program includes Korean, Torres Strait Island, Appalachian, Israeli, Navajo and Brazilian folk song arrangements, popular American music, musical settings of the poetry of Sara Teasdale and Emily Dickinson, spiritual and gospel works, and pieces by contemporary American women composers. This concert marks the first time these three ensembles have joined together in concert.
