Biosphere 2 Earth Day Celebration

When: April 23, 2022 (All day)

In honor of Earth Day's 2022 theme, "Invest In Our Planet," researchers at Biosphere 2 will be planting 25 coffee trees in the rainforest biome. Coffee, the world's most traded product – second in value only to oil – is highly vulnerable to climate change. At Biosphere 2 we plan to conduct experiments and study the sensitivity of coffee plants to increased temperature and reduced humidity and how growing and bean processing conditions affect coffee flavor. We hope our research helps to make the world's most popular beverage a tastier and more sustainable one.

During the month of April, Biosphere 2 invites the community to contribute to its critical research in any of the following ways:

Through April 30, 2022, make a $100 donation to Biosphere 2 and receive a 12oz Wildcat Local Roast Medium / Dark Craft Decaf Ground Coffee pouch.

Wildcat Local Roast is craft-roasted in small batches in the Arizona desert from a bold blend of East African and Central American beans. The result is a tempting chocolatey aroma and exceptionally rich flavor, with smooth intensity and hints of lemon, blackberry, floral notes and earthy tones. This delicious coffee is the brainchild of the University of Arizona.

Through April 22, 2022, make a $500 donation to Biosphere 2 and receive a free membership, plus the opportunity to plant a coffee tree in Biosphere 2 yourself. Tree planting will take place on April 23, 2022.

Anyone who donates and attends a tree planting may bring up to two guests (all ages welcome).
