Feb. 6

10-10:45 a.m. – Explore the World of STEAM From A-Z

Explore a virtual exhibit featuring interactive objects, videos and amazing STEAM booths provided by 15 partnering organizations, including the Maricopa County Air Quality Department, Grand Canyon University, Phoenix Zoo, Arizona Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and many more. 

11-11:30 a.m. – Breathe In

Take a deep breath with University of Arizona College of Pharmacy students. Participants will have the chance to create a lung of their own — all while learning about the anatomy of the respiratory system, how it can be affected by a disease like asthma and how certain drugs combat asthma in order to improve breathing.

11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. – Inside the Artificial Tissue Laboratory Part One

Join the Arizona Simulation, Technology and Education Center (ASTEC) at the University of Arizona for a fascinating tour through the artificial tissue laboratory. The center will share the science behind the making of silicone molds used for surgery and explain how the molds are used for medical training.

12-12:30 p.m. – Tour the Palo Verde Generating Station

Palo Verde Generating Station has been the nation's largest power producer of any kind for nearly 30 years — all of it clean and carbon-free. The plant is a critical asset to the Southwest, generating more than 32 million megawatt-hours annually — enough power for more than 4 million people. Join representatives from the APS-Palo Verde Generating Station for a virtual tour of the state's nuclear power plant.

1-1:30 p.m. – Art in Geometry

Discover how using just a few geometric shapes, you can create a piece of art – in math!
