Arizona Native Nations Flag Exhibit Dedication

When: November 12, 2020 3:15pm to 4:00pm

Amid Native American Heritage Month, the University of Arizona will hold a ceremony to celebrate a new on-campus display featuring the flags of all 22 Native Nations in Arizona. The flags will be displayed in the University of Arizona BookStore at the Student Union Memorial Center. The public is invited to view the ceremony live on YouTube (link below).

Speakers at the event will include:

  • Robert C. Robbins, University of Arizona president
  • Ned Norris Jr., Tohono O'odham Nation chairman
  • Peter Yucupicio, Pascua Yaqui Tribe chairman
  • Levi Esquerra, UArizona senior vice president for Native American advancement and tribal engagement
  • Karen Francis-Begay, UArizona assistant vice provost for Native American Initiatives
  • Jesse Navarro, governmental affairs assistant, Tohono O'odham Nation Executive Office
  • Jonathan Rios, UArizona graduate student and president of the American Indian Alumni of the University of Arizona
  • Mary Jo Tippeconnic Fox, research professor and social scientist, UArizona American Indian Studies Program
  • Benjamin Davis, UArizona undergraduate student and president of the Tohono O'odham Student Association
  • Alejandro Higuera, communications coordinator, Project FAMILIA, in the College of Education
