UA-Supported School Gains National Attention
A school that works with the UA under the grant-funded Safe and Supportive Schools project led by University researcher Kris Bosworth is getting national attention and visibility.
For the positive level of engagement around school safety, the Willcox High School ALLIES group is being honored by Sodexo, an international company that offers food and facilities management services.
In addition to a $500 award, posters of the students with a description of their work will be displayed in cafeterias across the U.S.
"We are very excited for them and proud of the work that we have been able to do through this grant," said Bosworth, who holds the Lester L. and Roberta D. Smith Endowed Chair in Education.
The ALLIES group, whose members are students and teachers, have been involved in beautification projects at Willcox High School and other work encouraging students to carry mutual respect for one another.
