A New UA Tradition: The Commemorative Presidential Poster
When Special Collections held a 2006 exhibition on UA presidents, retired librarian Bonnie Travers designed a presidential poster.
Carla J. Stoffle, dean of University Libraries and the Center for Creative Photography, then decided to continue the tradition of producing the commemorative posters.
Stoffle will personally deliver the poster to UA President Ann Weaver Hart, as she has done for past-UA Presidents Eugene G. Sander and Robert N. Shelton. Marty Taylor, a graphic designer for the UA Libraries, and John Stobbe, a graduate student studying visual communications, designed the new 16-by-20-inch poster.
“The poster is really a celebration of her,” Stobbe said. He and Taylor found black and white images of the 20 past presidents from Special Collections and added Hart’s official photograph in color.
Gabrielle Sykes-Casavant, marketing and public relations director for the UA Libraries, said: “It’s a meaningful gift that Carla (Stoffle) wanted to share with the president on behalf of the University Libraries.”
